Dog renal proximal tubular epithelial cells (RPTECs) are specialized cells lining the proximal tubule of the nephron and are essential for normal kidney function. They form a selective epithelial barrier and are primarily responsible for the reabsorption of water, ions, and vital nutrients from the glomerular filtrate. In addition, RPTECs actively secrete organic wastes and drugs through specialized transport proteins.
